Why manage Monarch transactions manually?

Syncing your financial accounts to any budgeting app is all about managing risk. Monarch Money, like many platforms, uses third-party services like Plaid to securely sync your financial accounts with your budget. While services like Plaid have come along way and can often rely on modern authentication methods like OAuth, it is sometimes still necessary for Plaid to store your username and password for your accounts.

If you're like us, and this scares you, you may opt to manually sync your transactions from your financial accounts to your budget. While Monarch provides a method for uploading transactions as CSV files, the necessary format rarely matches the format that your bank or credit card exports. Manual Monarch allows you to easily convert your financial accounts' transaction files into a format that Monarch Money can understand.
